All About It

Bhrigu Lake Trek is a trek to a sacred lake situated at an altitude of 4300 meters in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. The lake is oval-shaped and lies near Rohtang pass in Manali. The lake got its name from a sage named Bhrigu.According to locals, the sage Bhrigu used to meditate near the lake and that is why the lake became sacred. The Bhrigu Lake trek begins from a point called Chaudda Morh, which is around 20 km from Manali. The trek passes through virgin forests, large meadows, mountain ridges and finally one gets to see the Bhrigu lake.Bhrigu Lake Trek last for about three days starting from Manali. It’s a high altitude lake located at an ambitious height of 14,100fts. The history of Bhrigu Lake Trek is quite amazing. It is said that Brahma’s son, Maharishi Bhrigu, used to meditate near this lake thousands of years ago. Thus, the pristine lake is named after him. The itinerary for the Bhrigu Lake Trek includes going to Rola Kholi. From here, you’ll move on to Gulaba. This village has beautiful snow. This trail passes through lush, green meadows and virgin forests. These open into the campsite of Rola Kholi that is absolutely beautiful. Rola Kohli is situated at the base of the lake and is the Advance Base Camp of the trek. Night camping here provides an amazing experience. It is a heavenly destination for photographers as the night sky lights up with thousands of stars. Nature enthusiasts will certainly enjoy this peaceful view.Tourism of Bhrigu Lake is blossoming due to the scenic images. While trekking on the trail, you’ll get to witness  Seven Sisters peaks and Hanuman Tibba. Along with this, the Deo Tibba is also seen. You’ll also get to travel uphill to the lake.Interesting facts about the Bhrigu Lake is that the oval-shaped lake is said to change colors with new seasons and can sometimes be found frozen. However, locals believe that due to the lake’s sacred nature, it never freezes completely. To add on, it is held sacred to the Rishi Bhrigu, a great saint in our history. The view of the environment around the lakh is a sight for sore eyes. The cherry on top is that due to the height, it’ll feel as if the clouds are floating around you. Best time to visit Bhrigu Lake Trek? It’s recommended to visit from Mid-May to October. However, the ideal time would be before June or after July. This is because June and July tend to be the monsoon months and thus, landslides and other calamities are much more probable to occur. The weather of Bhrigu Lake Trek is much more pleasant and workable without these landslides. What’s the best way to reach Bhrigu Lake? If you prefer to travel by air, the nearest airport is Bhuntar airport at Kullu. Flights from Delhi regularly fly to Kullu. From there, taxis and buses can be arranged to reach Manali. If you wish to travel by train, the nearest station to Manali is at Chandigarh. From there, buses and taxis can be arranged once again. After this, a taxi will take you up to Gulaba and finally reach the starting point for Bhrigu Lake Trek. If these two options don’t seem appealing to you, you can always make a road trip out of it. There are plenty of buses that go from Delhi to Manali. You can also take a bus from Chandigarh as well. Once you reach Manali, you can carpool or hire a private taxi to reach Gulaba. The Bhrigu Lake Trek is classified under the category of ‘easy-moderate difficulty’. As the trek can be quite demanding due to its high altitudes, one must train well. If you do plan on going for the trek, focus on strength training and cardiovascular training as well. The reasons you need to check the Bhrigu Lake Trek in 2021 are far more than many. But, if you still have doubts then let us clear them up while you are on the Bhrigu Lake Trek with JustWravel.

Great Experience! We took Justwravel's road trip package to Spiti Valley. The package is well organized covering main sightseeings and places to visit. All the accommodations and travel arrangements were comfy and included most of the promised amenities. Special thanks to Piyush Rawat, our coordinator, he managed and acted his best in all the situations. His jolliness added more fun to the trip. Although many destinations were covered in a short period of time, the trip was relaxing. Thanks for such memorable moments of our lives.

If it rains at the campsite then there would not be any problem because all our living tents, kitchen tents and toilet tents are waterproof. You will stay dry inside.

Q. Why is the trekking pole necessary?

It differs from person to person. If you think that it would help you maintaining balance while trekking then do bring the pole. Some people think that the trekking pole disturbs the walking rhythm. So it’s up to you.
